🙏 A Poem and a Blessing for Enough

Give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.

Otherwise, I may have too much
and disown you and say,
‘Who is the Lord?’

Or I may become poor and steal,
    and so dishonor the name of my God.
—Proverbs 30

This then is how you should pray…
Give us today our daily bread
—Jesus of Nazareth

🙏 A Prayer

Lord
I am rich

I woke up
with conditioned
air

There is
a steel box
storing my food
at optimal
temperatures
above freezing point

I think a thought
and I ask
networks of networks
of computing systems
for a response

In an instant
it tells me
Kendrick
just wrote
another grown
man poem

At any given moment
with minimal effort
I can speak
with persons I love

My mother, my father, my sisters, my friends
All 9 digits and a green button away

Instead
I compute
moving images of
what I do not have

And my soul
is convinced
seduced and
coaxed

You do not have enough

Lord help me to see
The provided bread

And may I be nourished
in mind body and soul
this day

Amen

This day is the day made by your LORD.
Rejoice and be glad.

Revealed to us as
Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit
