🕊️ A Prayer and a Blessing for When We are Exhausted

The angel of the Lord
came back a second time
and touched him and said,
“Get up and eat,
for the journey
is too much for you.”
1 Kings 19:7

🙏 Prayer

I wake up.
And it starts…

You’re not doing enough
You’re not doing enough

So I do something.
And it starts again…

It’s not good enough
It’s not good enough

So I freeze.
And it gets louder…

You’re not doing enough
You’re not doing enough

Work
Family
Faith

All become an echoing cavern
of this unrelenting curse
and Pharaoh will not
let me go

I wonder if I
will ever hear

It is ok

You cannot control
what you cannot control

Be kind to yourself
Daughter of God

Center yourself
In the practice of love

All shall be well
All shall be well

🕊️ Blessing

Elijah went to the mountain, exhausted and alone. For him, all his zeal and all his victories counted for nothing. What he needed was food and stillness. Nourishment and solitude. When he got quiet enough to listen, he took notice of the God he was serving. May your exhaustion lead you the mountain of God’s still voice. May you not pass judgment on yourself. May you be kind. May all your labor be born of love.

In the Name of the One who asks, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
