Liturgy 065: Do Not Turn From Your Wounds or Your Sins
🕊️ A Prayer and a Blessing to Abide with God
🧘🏻♀️ Lectio Divina
I dwell in the high and holy place
and also with him who is of a contrite
lowly spirit
— Isaiah 57:15
🪴 Prayer
God of the lowly and despised
Your glory is wrapped in the
ragged garments of our world.
From the filth of the Manger
To the horror of the Cross
Bethlehem and Golgotha
Became the site of
Your redeeming love
Jesus, let me not turn away
From the wounds of my own soul
From the sins I most despise
From the failures I grieve most
From the judgments I carry of the world
For there
You are working
Resurrection
And best of all
You abide
🕊️ Blessing
Dear Friend
There is always something to bemoan. Always something to distract us from seeking Christ within the rubble of our interior lives. Always some headline to expend our energies in opinionated arrogance.
Every moment is an opportunity to bend ourselves towards cynicism.
But I pray you be clay in the hands of an Artist… allowing the Spirit to mold the image of faith, hope, and love as the ground of your being.
May the cross you bear be the place of your redemption.
May you abide with God in the Gardens of Eden and Gethsemane.
In the Name of Jesus the Nazarene
Amen
This came to my inbox exactly when I needed it. I don't open every one that arrives - and I don't know why I opened this one. I suspect that my hand was guided by an unseen director... Thank you.
