Liturgy 066: Bread that Does Not Fill
A Prayer and a Blessing for Our Constant Wandering
Lectio Divina
I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
You shall have no foreign god among you;
you shall not worship any god other than me.
— Psalm 81
Prayer
You have led me, Lord
through waters that closed behind
through days I could not carry
into fields wide with mercy
But my hands have reached
for gods that do not know me
for voices that do not call my name
for bread that does not fill
Still, you remain—
steady as the turning earth
faithful as the morning light
calling me back home
Blessing
Dear friend, may you be still and seek the countenance of God. May a smile break across your face as you consider God’s mercy and kindness towards you. May every moment of turning away from God lead you back to the place of knowing and being known. May you worship God without speculation of favor, but wonder at the gift of each breath.
In the Name of Our Deliverer and Savior
Amen
