Fasting for fasting sake is a fast lane to an empty, powerless faith.
Fasting that draws our ever-distracted minds to the beauty of what artists describe as ‘less is more’—that is when we awaken to the enough of God’s loving presence in all spaces of life.
Here’s to those who are observing lent by emptying self, designing a life lived in the fullness of God.
Lectio Divina
Man shall not live
on bread alone
but every word
that comes from
the mouth of God.
— Matthew 4:4
Prayer
O God of Enough,
I confess—
I cling to comfort,
I crave control,
I fill my days with what does not satisfy.
Teach me the grace of less.
The beauty of an unfilled space.
The freedom of an open hand.
Let my hunger turn to longing,
let my longing turn to prayer,
let my prayer lead me
ever deeper
to You.
Amen.
Blessing
Dear Friend
May you crave what is eternal,
and feast on the goodness of God.
In the Name of the One
Who is the Bread of Life
Amen.
