Lectio Divina
Life can only be understood backwards;
but it must be lived forwards.
— Søren Kierkegaard
Whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
— Jesus of Nazareth
Prayer
O God, I do not know where this road will lead.
I have mapped my life in ink, but you move in the spaces I cannot see.
I fear the unknown, yet I hear you calling from beyond myself.
Teach me to trust the ground beneath my feet,
Even when I cannot see the path ahead.
Teach me to let go, not into nothingness, but into you.
If I must lose what I cling to, let it be for love.
If I must walk in darkness, let it be with faith.
If I must surrender, let it be into your hands.
O Christ, who emptied yourself for love,
Make my surrender holy.
Make my unknowing sacred.
Make my trust complete.
Amen.
Blessing
May you walk into the unknown,
not with fear, but with faith.
May you lose what was never yours to hold,
and find what cannot be taken from you.
May you surrender, not into emptiness, but into love.
May you find the God of holy uncertainty walking alongside you.
In the Name of the One Who was Faithful to the End
Amen.
