Lectio Divina
Read this text slowly.
Let yourself be seated at the table.
Feel the water on your feet.
Imagine the hands of God,
washing the dust off of you.
Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet…
John 13:5
Prayer
O Christ, Kneeling
You could have come with thunder.
You could have kept your hands clean.
Instead, you knelt.
You chose the basin,
the towel,
the silence.
You took the posture of a slave,
and in so doing,
you revealed Kingdom Come.
Let me feel the strangeness
of divine humility.
Let me receive
without deflecting.
Let me remember
love is not performance
but presence.
Tonight, I do not try to theologize—
I sit at this table and receive
the washing of my dusty feet.
Blessing
For Those Who Stay at the Table
May you be washed
by a love that kneels.
May you stay at the table,
even with fear in your gut
and betrayal in the room.
May you taste the bread,
drink the cup,
and know—
our God is not like
Caesar or the High Priest,
our God is not running
a presidential or capital campaign.
May you be cleansed,
not only from the debt of your sin,
but the dust of false kingdoms.
All Glory and Honor are His
Amen
Thanks, Mike! You're a blessing!
