Lectio Divina
Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road?
Cleopas, Luke 24
You wrap around me like a winter coat.
You come and free me like a bird.

The worst thing is never the last thing.

Prayer
O Christ, hidden
quiet companion, you
do not rush the journey.
You match my pace,
slow as a stubborn sorrow
present as a subtle sigh.
You met me there, in the middle
of returning to my old life.
You listened,
I spilled my grief.
You asked questions
I did not know I held inside.
And when You stayed for supper,
laughter warmed the room,
bread broke open the light.
I cannot tell.
Did the road change?
Or did I?
Now every road is alive with You
Every table holds a feast unseen,
And my soul remembers
even in the night.
You are closer than I know,
unseen Christ.
Turn every mile into wonder,
every step into a quiet song.
Amen.
Blessing
May your sorrow find a listener
your road, a companion
your silence, a gentle voice.
May your eyes be opened
in the most ordinary of meals.
Christ is near
Christ is near
He walks beside you now.
The cross you bear
will not be a final word.
In the Name of Christ
Who dwells in you
as Hope of Glory
Amen
