Happy are the Meek
For they will inherit the Earth

Prayer
Gentle God
I used to speak
as if the world might forget me
unless I raised my voice
Then I met a woman
whose quiet strength
needed no banner or boast
Like an oak tree
rooted deep
outliving every storm
Like a river
keeping course
without need for applause
She spoke
with laughter
with gravitas
with gentle conviction
without demand
My God
may my life
be a steady kindness
that leaves no scar
only the soft imprint
of having been here
Amen
Blessing
Dear Friend
May you trust the Christ within you
May you hear the affirming voice of Father God
May you feel the Spirit rejoice all around you
And may you loosen your grip
shrugging your shoulders
at the plastic, man-made measures of success
In the Name of the One
Who was quiet before Herod and the High Priest
Amen
