Lectio Divina

Happy are the pure in heart
for they shall see God
Jesus

Prayer

a trauma dump
and a thirst trap
sent by the
algorithm gods

and God, God
its much
too easy

for my autopilot
to judge
to see self as pure
to see world as strange

help me instead
to seek you

not as apart
but as within

give me an undivided heart
non-reactive, non-defensive,
imaginative, and open

to the possibility
that Spirit might rest
among the Gentiles
though I’ve been kosher

Jesus
could you look into my eyes tonight
until I am pure enough
to see you in places
I’d least expect

Blessing

May you not be as those who cannot fathom God showing up among Republicans or Democrats or Heathens or Bureaucrats. May you smile more, criticize less. May your prophetic witness to the world be less of a temper tantrum, and more of a life worth imitating. Rejoice and be as a child. The whole Earth is filled with glory.
