Lectio Divina
Happy are the peacemakers
For they will be called children of God
Jesus
Prayer
We wanted to be history makers
You wanted makers of peace
We dreamed of changing nations
You placed neighbors in our path
We cried out for miracles
You called us to mercy
Victory in your name
is not a scorecard
of wins
and losses
It is this:
I look
into the eyes
of my enemy,
and I see
their suffering
as my own.
—Selah—
Jesus,
my Lord and my God, come
make a Christian out of me.
Blessing
May you enter the Kingdom of God.
May you listen to Jesus’ strange teachings
and take them into your body and your soul.
May his upside down way towards happiness
begin to unsettle you and invite you to
no longer be conformed
to the patterns of your nation-state,
your family of origin, and the ones
who’s opinions you fear.
May you take up his yoke,
and be free.
May you be a child of God,
a maker of peace.
In the Name of the One
Who Did Not Return Evil for Evil
But Prayed for God’s Mercy
on the Ignorant.
Amen
