You’re not that angry about the drawer in the kitchen.
The drawer simply gave you an outlet
for all the grief and pain sitting right below
the surface of your life.

God of Peace
When my voice rises
with people I love,
I know.
I’ve gone too long
without stillness.
Smoke rises from
grief unexamined.
LORD,
Shine your light on me
like the patient dawn.
Keep me from
false strength,
that calcifies
into unseen
resentments.
May I be
a block of ice, slowly
thawing out
in your nearness.

Dear Friend
May you hear the invitation
to bring your true self
into the sacred ground
of solitude and communion.
May you honor the ones you love,
by being still with the One
whose Name is Love.
May you not give the devil a foothold
by serving Christ, without first being near.
May you abide, and bear much fruit.
