Lectio Divina
My soul thirsts for God
for the the Living God
Psalm 42
We saw his star in the East
and have come to worship.
Matthew 2
Prayer
God of Advent
the Koreans call it han.
the Hebrews have a book Lamentations.
the sorrow that lingers
the ache of injustice
the generational wound
that refuses to close
We live in a world
that trades on attention
every bright screen
keeping me
from listening deep
But the ache
is the star
that the Magi saw
LORD
during these Advent days,
may I be
still enough
quiet enough
to listen
and to seek
the One
who was anointed
to set the oppressed free.
Blessing
Dear Friend
Advent begins
when we create space
for the word Savior
to move beyond
sentimental religious phraseology
and arrive at the place
where our most honest selves
align with all the world’s longing for Christ.
May you confess your need for Jesus.
May we confess together.
Whether we identify with exilic Israel
or with the children of Babylon,
feasting while the prophets weep,
may we hunger for God
and Kingdom Come.
May all that feels unresolved
be an anchor to pray
and seek the Living God.
In the Name of the One
Who Hears Our Groaning Without Words
Amen
